Felicia Maestas was born and raised in Española and attended Española Public Schools. She received a BA degree in Architecture with a minor in Psychology from UNM. Immediately following graduation, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a Master’s degree at UCLA. After spending a full decade in Los Angeles as an architect and designer, she returned home to beautiful New Mexico. Upon her return she decided to enter into the field of education, a profession she and her family hold in the highest regard.Felicia’s initial experience as an educator placed her as a middle school teacher in her hometown of Española. It was there that she experienced the power of purposeful and relevant education, and the impact that the effective use of technology can have on student learning and engagement. Subsequent to her classroom experience, she served as a district Technology Curriculum Specialist. Her current roles include serving as the President of NMSTE (New Mexico Society for Technology in Education), a Digital Learning Coach for the Santa Fe Public Schools, and adjunct faculty for the Santa Fe Community College.
